What is self care? and how it benefits us?

Selfcare is taking care of yourself by maintaining a good routine and balancing life.

Selfcare is any activity that we do deliberately in order to take care of our mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing.

Although it’s a simple concept in theory which, it’s something we often overlook. Good selfcare is key to improved mood and reduced anxiety. It also enhance our relationship with oneself and others.

We all are less able to handle stresses that comes our way when we’re depleted by physical and emotional exhaustion. Or, put in a more positive way we are more resilient and more able to handle life’s stress when we are feeling our best both physically and emotionally. A massage, a hot bath or other form pampering boost you inside and out. This may boost your physical health, can improve emotional health and makes you better caregiver. Selfcare isn’t a selfish act either.

what is a poor selfcare?

If we don’t do something in order to take care of our self just for the sake of doing things it won’t work as per the necessity of an individual. Be aware of what you do, why you do it, how you feel and what are the outcomes of it.

Self-neglect is a behavioural issue in which an individual neglects to attend their basic needs such as personal hygiene, appropriate clothing, feeding etc.

Nowadays we all can see there is a lot negativity around the world people have low self-esteem, lack of acceptance and no motivation due to because people are not prioritizing themselves rather more concern about the society

Now the question is will am I accept the way I am, what another person thinks about me?  What I do this people will judge me?

Not only me but society will also question this.

As you can see People of different age group at the sufferer of mental health concerns like loneliness, rejection, failure, relationship issues, emotional issues, acknowledgment issues but the best part is etc, but there are ways to overcome or deal with it , start taking care of yourself, one should love own self rather than thinking about other , otherwise we humans won’t be able to deal with our problems and that will be a trouble and leads to anxiety, depression and to not let that happen, loving and connecting with yourself is very important.

Good habits are about:

  1. finding simplicity in your life,
  2.  mindfulness in your day to day activities,
  3. organize your life chores (it’s all about clearing the clutter so that we can focus on what important is),
  4.  It’s about clearing the clutter so we can focus on what’s important,
  5. create something amazing and find happiness can also lead productivity,
  6. It will help in your personal development and growth.

There are some ways to you can take care of your own self by giving yourself some personal time: 

  • Physical Selfcare

You need to take care of your body if you want it to run efficiently. Keep in mind that there’s a strong connection between your body and your mind. When your caring for your body, you’ll think and feel better too.

Physical self-care includes how you’re fueling your body, how much sleep you’re getting, how much physical activity you are doing, and how well you’re caring for your physical needs. Attending appointments, taking medication as prescribed, and managing your health are all part of good physical self-care.

  • Social Selfcare

Socialization is key to self-care. But, often, it’s hard to make time for friends and it’s easy to neglect your relationships when life gets busy. Close connections are important to your well-being. The best way to cultivate and maintain close relationships is to put time and energy into building your relationships with others.

There isn’t a certain number of hours you should devote to your friends or work on your relationships. Everyone has slightly different social needs. The key is to figure out what your social needs are and to build enough time in your schedule to create an optimal social life.

  • Mental Selfcare

The way you think and the things that you’re filling your mind with greatly influence your psychological well-being. Mental self-care includes doing things that keep your mind sharp, like puzzles, or learning about a subject that fascinates you. You might find reading books or watching movies that inspire you fuels your mind.

Mental self-care also involves doing things that help you stay mentally healthy. Practicing self-compassion and acceptance, for example, helps you maintain a healthier inner dialogue.

  • Spiritual SelfCare

A lifestyle including religion or spirituality is generally a healthier lifestyle. Nurturing your spirit, however, doesn’t have to involve religion. It can involve anything that helps you develop a deeper sense of meaning, understanding, or connection with the universe.

Whether you enjoy meditation, attending a religious service, or praying, spiritual self-care is important.

  • Emotional Selfcare

It’s important to have healthy coping skills to deal with uncomfortable emotions, like anger, anxiety, and sadness. Emotional self-care may include activities that help you acknowledge and express your feelings on a regular basis.

Whether you talk to a partner or close friend about how you feel, or you set aside time for leisure activities that help you process your emotions, it’s important to incorporate emotional self-care into your life.

So, in short everyone should practice selfcare and give time to ourselves, some practices we all can follow in daily lives are:

  • Sleeping habit– sleeping on time is very essential and waking up early is very refreshing and with more of enthusiasm, energy and boost your mood.
  • Take care of yourself by taking care of your gut – taking caring about yourself is by spending time with yourself and family, and do what you feel is right
  • Make a routine of exercising daily/ meditate – it feels great and feel so much relaxed after giving out negative energy and stress of a whole day, keeps a peaceful mind
  • Eat right, healthy stay wealthy – eat healthy food at least for a week and limit sugar intake and eat more of natural foods and vegetables. It also provides a lot of energy and drink lots of water in a day.
  • Say NO to others and say YES to yourself – take time for yourself and spend time alone to connect and know yourself better
  • Take a trip, go for a drive – go for a ride and take yourself on dates, also have solo trips and plan adventurous activities
  • Take care by organizing yourself – organize things and life, don’t create a mess or chaos, just be discipline and make your own bed and other things 
  • Cook at home for yourself – try to make new dishes and make it for yourself
  • Read good books- read motivated and selfcare books, go to a peaceful place and make a goal to read 2 pages per day
  • Do what makes you happy, listen to music, art work, watching movie, dance or writing – follow up your hobbies, which makes you happy and distract you from toxic things
  • Love yourself and give rewards to yourself – make to do list every day and complete task bygiving yourself reward which is an achievement so do it when you feel you’ve done something; from this you will love yourself and get to know your abilities
  • Do gratitude exercises- should often do chanting in the morning, this helps your mind a lot
  • Have a pet – having a pet makes you happy and makes you smile
  • Pamper yourself – have a bubble bath and use face mask
