Are OLD people that complicated to understand? There are seven stages a human moves through during his or her life span. These stages include infancy, early childhood, middle childhood, adolescence, early adulthood, middle adulthood, and old age. All of these stages have their importance, enjoyment, and mentality but specifically talking about old age then, old age is viewed as an unavoidable, undesirable, and problem-ridden phase of life. People here face several changes be it emotionally, physically, mentally, socially, and whatnot.
Are OLD people that complicated to understand?
What do they think?
By the time one reaches the old age of his journey, he must have discovered that the joys available in this world are trivial and fleeting. He must be equipped with the higher knowledge of spiritual joy, available through delving into the innerspring of bliss. Through his experiences, his heart must have softened and be filled with compassion. He has to be engrossed in promoting the progress of all beings without distinction. And he must be eager to share with others the knowledge he has accumulated and the benefit of his experiences.
Problems they face
What broadly seen is that physical confidence tends to decrease whereas mental confidence tends to increase, the reason behind this is that they become aware of the allowances and advantages which people make because of their aging. They face insecurities, depression, and loneliness due to which they become childish at times. Some people become more tolerant about their views whereas some become really rigid about their beliefs. Some have to deal with financial losses as well while some face an emotional breakdown. Some undergo serious physical illness while others are mentally unfit. They are usually dependent, isolated, and have declining memory which in one way or other disinterests living of their life.
What do they expect?
This is a human tendency; everybody wants to be loved, taken care of, pampered, and know their worth. So, just give it a thought a person who has come to the end of his lifespan and may die any day, what kind of thoughts would go in his mind and what will he expect? The answer is very simple which is LOVE.
Aged people only expect love from their family and friends, all they want is to know that yes their existence matters to their near and dear ones. All they want is to tell their grandchildren their childhood stories, never be a burden on their kids, to have someone to talk to to share their thoughts, their problems, and an ear to listen.
What can be done to please them?
- Volunteer in your community, even if it’s unstructured.
- Spend time at a senior center or a care home.
- Support your elders by listening to them.
- Try having fun with them, they love it.
- Send in the animals. They really help in healing (but only chill and cool ones).
It’s an asset to have elderly people around you, let’s value them before they leave us forever.
